An Extended Marquardt-type Procedure for Fitting Error-in-variables Models

چکیده
Am&-The paper presents a simple derivation of the method of fitting nonlinear algebraic models where all variables are subject to error and improves the numerical efficiency of the algorithm. Including a known procedure for equilibrating balance equations and factorizing the weighting matrix, the classical Gauss-Marquardt method of estimating parameters in nonlinear models is shown to handle also the error-in-variables model, thereby extending the efficiency and robustness of Marquardt’s compromise to this slightly more involved case.

An improved structure models to explain retention behavior of atmospheric nanoparticles
The quantitative structure-retention relationship (QSRR) of nanoparticles in roadside atmosphere against the comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography which was coupled to high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry was studied. The genetic algorithm (GA) was employed to select the variables that resulted in the best-fitted models. After the variables were selected, the linear multi...
متن کاملFitting Second-order Models to Mixed Two-level and Four-level Factorial Designs: Is There an Easier Procedure?
Fitting response surface models is usually carried out using statistical packages to solve complicated equations in order to produce the estimates of the model coefficients. This paper proposes a new procedure for fitting response surface models to mixed two-level and four-level factorial designs. New and easier formulae are suggested to calculate the linear, quadratic and the interaction coeff...

The designing of advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous vehicles needs measurement of dynamical variations of vehicle, such as acceleration, velocity and yaw rate. Designed adaptive controllers to control lateral and longitudinal vehicle dynamics are based on the measured variables. Inertial MEMS-based sensors have some benefits including low price and low consumption that make them ...
متن کاملReduction of Bias in Maximum Likelihood Ellipse Fitting
An improved maximum likelihood estimator for ellipse fitting based on the heteroscedastic errors-in-variables (HEIV) regression algorithm is proposed. The technique significantly reduces the bias of the parameter estimates present in the Direct Least Squares method, while it is numerically more robust than renormalization, and requires less computations than minimizing the geometric distance wi...
متن کاملFitting Propagation Models with Random Grains, Method and Some Simulation Studies
In this paper the regression problem for random sets of the Boolean model type is developed, where the corresponding poisson process of the model is related to some explanatory variables and the random grains are not affected by these variables. A model we call propagation model, is presented and some methods for fitting this model are introduced. Propagation model is applied in a simulation st...
